Description
The William optics RedCat 51 is a portable, small telescope with the best possible optics and optical design, especially fast and usable for astrophotography at a low possible price. With this William optics RedCat 51 aperture, Petzval optical design and f / 4.9 focal ratio, it looks like William has accomplished his mission.
Optical design
As mentioned, the lens has a 51 mm opening with a focal length of 250 mm in a Petzval design, the glass is made of FPL-53 and FPL-51. The optical design consists of 4 elements processed in 3 groups. This makes the telescope suitable for full frame with a flat field.
Focusing
The Helical focuser ensures a very fine focus of the desired object. The focus tube is graduated, ideal for photographic purposes. The available field rotator ensures that you can accurately take mosaic pictures. This is also provided with a scale. See photo in the gallery.
The RedCat has a camera with M48 thread. Nowadays almost most cameras can be connected to this. Mounting on a mount or a photo tripod is a piece of cake. Vixen style dovetail is included in the scope of delivery of the telescope, this dovetail can also be used on connection of the ARCA-SWISS type. Ordinary photo tripods have also been considered, the William Optics RedCat can be easily connected to this.
REDCAT has been updated from October 2019, small improvements that make the REDCAT even better. In the photo below you can see what the improvements are. Unfortunately, this has led to a price increase for the REDCAT.
